Pirastro Schwarz 9005 is a rosin developed to support bow-to-string grip and playing control on bowed string instruments. Pirastro rosins are formulated with the technical requirements of different string types in mind and are designed to complement the characteristics of Pirastro strings.
Based on pure German rosin, it features a characteristic brown appearance. The appropriate rosin hardness can vary depending on the instrument, string type and playing environment. Harder and drier rosins are generally preferred for violin and viola, medium-hard rosin for cello and softer rosin for double bass. Steel strings are typically paired with harder, drier rosin, while synthetic or gut strings can benefit from softer formulations.
Pirastro rosins feature a practical construction in which the rosin is mounted on a soft cloth and then attached to a rigid plastic holder. This design makes application easier and helps reduce direct contact between the player's fingers and rosin dust.
